Nokia 5.1 Plus with 5.86-inch display, octa-core chipset spotted on TENAA

first_imgHMD Global has been on a launch spree this year and is staying true to its promise of rapidly expanding its product portfolio in 2018. After refreshing the Nokia 2, Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 smartphones last month, it looks almost certain that the company is ready to launch another new phone soon. Since early this month, CAD renders and a Bluetooth certification listing suggest a Nokia 5.1 Plus may be in the works. Now, the same phone has been spotted on China certification site TENAA, hinting that its launch is imminent. The TENAA listing gives us a pretty good look at what to expect from the smartphone. The specs listed suggests a mid-range smartphone powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core processor but the chipset is unknown at the moment. It is possible we could see a MediaTek Helio P-series or a Snapdragon 600-series chip powering the Nokia 5.1 Plus. The listing further adds three memory options of 3GB, 4GB and 6GB along with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. The phone will also run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.CAD renders earlier this month suggested that the Nokia 5.1 Plus will sport a near bezel-less display up front with a notch that is noticeably wider than that seen on the recent Nokia X6 and a chin. The display is likely 5.86-inch with HD+ resolution as per the TENAA listing. This may be disappointing if true as one expect a Full- HD+ resolution for a mid-range phone in today’s day and age. Meanwhile, the notch on top of the display is expected to be as wide as the one seen on the iPhone X, suggesting HMD Global could house some extra sensor for a Face ID-like tech.advertisementAs for the cameras, the Nokia 5.1 Plus will likely bear a dual camera setup on the back with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and possibly an 8-megapixel secondary sensor. The front could also see an 8-megapixel sensor similar to the Nokia 5.1. Lastly, the phone could house a 3000mAh battery, which is almost the same as the Nokia 5.1 so it seems the ‘Plus’ here isn’t going to be associated with a bigger battery.HMD is yet to announce the date and time of launch but since the Nokia 5.1 Plus has been spotted on TENAA one can assume that the launch is just a few days away.last_img
