first_imgPune Supergiants owner Sanjiv Goenka today revealed it was on skipper Mahendra Singh’s insistence that the franchise picked up unheralded mystery spinner Murugan Ashwin at the Indian Premier League auction on February 6. They were keen on him and they believe he has the potential to perform well in the long run,” Goenka told Sports Today. The uncapped Negi was the most expensive player in the auction. He has been selected for the Asia Cup T20 and World T20.Goenka was also happy with the Dhoni-Fleming combination. The duo had worked together for the Chennai Super Kings and helped the southern giants win the IPL twice.
