Tomka To Join Drake Athletics As Associate Athletics Director For Development

first_imgDES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University athletics has hired Des Moines native Patrick Tomka as associate athletics director for development, director of athletics Sandy Hatfield Clubb announced Friday, May 27.Tomka is set to join the Bulldogs following a nine-year tenure in the front office of the National Football League’s Washington Redskins with the last five years spent in executive roles. Most recently, he was the organization’s senior vice president of business operations and executive entertainment for one year. Prior to that he was a vice president for three years and a senior director for a season. He has also spent extensive time in higher education as an adjunct professor of sports management and marketing at Marymount University.”I would like to thank Sandy Hatfield Clubb for this exciting opportunity to be a part of Drake athletics and Drake University,” Tomka said. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Sandy, the athletic program and University. It was apparent throughout this process that Drake places a very high priority on its student-athletes’ academic and athletic success and living the Bulldog Way. In that role, he was the team’s top sales executive all three years and generated more than $3.7 million in new revenue and executed multi-year leases on premium seats.Tomka received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a double major in accounting and finance from the University of Iowa in 2006. He also received a master’s degree in sports studies for Iowa in 2008 and served as a graduate assistant in the Iowa athletic department and assisted the director of premium seating.Print Friendly Versionlast_img
