Digital transformation or digital optimisation: A journey versus a starting point

first_img 2SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr continue reading » There’s a lot of noise in high places. Senior executives are asking questions. They’re demanding answers. What are they talking about?Digital transformation. It’s important, because Europe is currently operating at only 12 percent of its digital potential, while the U.S. is operating at 18 percent, according to the McKinsey Global Institute’s Industry Digitization Index.Confusion reigns. The reason there is so much perplexity is that, quite simply, somewhere along the way, digital transformation has mutated into a multi-headed monster that now encompasses many disciplines: Consulting, virtualisation, Agile, process automation, etc. With this mutation, the clarity of the real meaning of the concept of digital transformation has been lost. I believe businesses and senior executives are confusing, quite reasonably, the difference between digital transformation and digital optimisation.Let’s explore further.last_img read more

Chinese tourism market – the latest indicators and trends

first_imgAlong with Chinese tourists, the arrivals of Indians grew the most by 20%, Japanese by 10% and Americans by 5%. This is really great news for British hoteliers and caterers. This is a great example of how to turn a situation that seems to have only negative connotations into smart advantages and achieve positive economic effects. Reading the tourist indicators on various world portals that deal with this topic, all the detachments report on the record arrivals of Chinese tourists.  They travel more and more, so in 2018, the average Chinese person traveling abroad traveled 3,9 times. The Chinese increased the number of days on the trip to 8,5, which is 1,5 days longer than the year before. On average, they visited three cities on the trip, one city more than the year before. Increasingly popular are combined trips, the first part business, and then the tourist part which lasts an average of 4 days. They go to the US for fun, and Germany is a destination for historical attractions. The main motivator is always leisure and something new to get to know. When they arrive at their destination they will literally turn every stone to find new information and experience something new. When the First Regional Conference on the Chinese Tourism Market was held at the beginning of the year, the market generally received this information lukewarmly. Hundreds of conference attendees attended the conference more out of curiosity and less to seriously consider or take concrete steps to attract the Chinese tourism market. Even then, one of the most common questions before the conference itself was “will Chinese travel agencies be present at the conference?”, And there was no interest in attending the conference in the negative answer.  The good news for hotels is that 92% of them will stay in the hotel and taste local specialties, of course if you offered them, and that they will spend money in the hotel souvenir shop, on average about 25,00 eur / day… of course, if the souvenir shop is stocked with local souvenirs and items. They will spend in the hotel on other services and facilities if offered, especially on the wellness & spa. The average daily consumption in the hotel in 2018 reached 165,00 eur / person. Who wouldn’t want guests like that !? Photo: ProConcept Asia is interesting for only 49% of Chinese tourists this year. 60% of Chinese tourists want to travel to new locations, to countries where they have not been before. At the top of the wish list are Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Croatia is on the short list of 5 countries in Europe that are most desirable to visit.  Follow us on www.proconcept.hr for more information. CONSUMPTION OF CHINESE TOURISTS Millennials have drastically increased their consumption, by as much as 73% of those born in the 90s, and over 50% of those born in the 80s. In 2018, their daily consumption per person was 310,00 eur. If we compare this with the last TOMAS report for 2017, the average tourist in Croatia spent 78,77 eur per day! Do we want Chinese tourists? When choosing accommodation, they rely more on the reviews of previous tourists, than on the official category and stars. Despite the high spending, they really care about the value for money, so for 24% of them this information is crucial when choosing where to stay. Photo: ProConcept Everything new and all the locations where there aren’t a lot of Chinese are very popular. They want to go where they will not meet other Chinese. This is very good information for every corner of our beautiful country. THERE IS NO STONE THAT WILL NOT TURN IN SEARCH OF INTERESTING FACTS You can find out this and other useful information and knowledge at the Second Regional Conference on the Chinese Tourism Market to be held early next year. ProConcept is the exclusive representative of IPPWORLD for Croatia and the countries of the region. To get you interested in this topic, try to read the following information carefully and think about why and how to bring Chinese tourists to your destination. What do they spend the most on? The Chinese want to experience the local, local tastes, traditions, experiences, vivid experiences. Gone are the days when they exclusively demanded their Chinese dishes. Today, as many as 69% of them consider trying local specialties their favorite pastime, 65% of them want to visit local sights, and 43% of them want to buy a real authentic local souvenir.  Linguistic and cultural adaptation are the basic preconditions for access to the largest tourist market in the world. Would you buy something from a website that is in a language you don’t understand? The situation is the same with potential tourists, they will make a reservation on the website of the global hotel brand and on the website whose content they understand to read, study the offer and decide to make a reservation. Many hotels in our area have their websites translated into German, French, English, Italian, and many other European languages, lately also into Slovenian, so it is really high time to include Chinese and other Asian languages among these languages, such as Korean, Japanese, and even Indian. FANS OF EVERYTHING LOCAL For the services of creative translation of your promotional materials into Chinese and promotion in the Chinese tourism market, send an inquiry to [email protected] or call 01/20 10 122. This information could not be noticed in the domestic media where we regularly encounter pessimistic lamentations and lamentations about our season that has failed. No wonder, given that most of our tourism happens on its own. It sounds ugly, but it is so. Chinese tourists are the biggest consumers in the world! In the last year, they have increased their consumption by 40%, and as the trend continues, statistics say that in the next year they will increase their consumption by 60% compared to the current year. Millennials are at the forefront of this trend, spending incredibly on everything new they see, on local attractions, on gastronomic delights, and even better, leading them to consumption and their parents who often take them on trips. With all this information in mind, it is necessary to focus, to become linguistically visible, and that means to provide information about yourself in Chinese. “What I don’t know I won’t buy.”  NEW AND EXPLORED DESTINATIONS ARE IN The BBC reports in its news that this season they have an influx of Chinese tourists like never before, and that their consumption has increased incredibly! This probably also happened due to the fall in the value of the pound against the dollar, but the British made the best possible use of Brexit in any case, in terms of tourist demand and consumption. Chinese tourists are also exploring local experiences in choosing accommodation. More and more of them want to try accommodation in a private apartment, so last year 68% of them stayed in a hotel, and 48% in private apartments for rent. Since they visit more cities on their travels, they also change the types of accommodation. Together with you, we can make your product speak the language of global tourists, all in order to generate the revenue you have planned. Photo: ProConcept Explanations and presented statistics on the habits of Chinese tourists did not help much. It is still a fact that 80% of Chinese tourists travel individually, not in a group, to our hoteliers, vague and unbelievable information, so they still do not see Chinese tourists unless they are in a group of 30-40 older Chinese rushing from location to location. But it’s really not Chinese outbound tourism !!! Wholesale marketplace Ula secures $10m in seed funding

first_img“A typical [small traditional] store has an 8 to 10 percent cost advantage over modern retailers given that they are usually tax exempt, employ their own family and operate out of their homes,” said Ula’s cofounder Derry Sakti in a written statement on Wednesday.“Yet they are not competitive because of a lack of access to wholesalers and have limited working capital.”He added that small shops sometimes needed to buy supplies in bulk to get better rates, even though they did not require such large amounts. At present, Ula mostly serves customers in East Java, but plans to expand its operations across Java. It also seeks to widen its product range from daily necessities to other categories such as apparel and electronics. Newly established Indonesian wholesale marketplace Ula said it has received US$10.5 million in seed funding led by Sequoia India and Lightspeed India, as it seeks to expand its consumer base across Java. The company, which was launched in January, also received investments from San Francisco-based Alter Global, Sinar Mas-backed conglomerate SMDV, among others, along with several angel investors including Patrick Walujo of private equity firm Northstar.Ula focuses its business on the small store owners, allowing them to buy only the inventory they need, instead of in bulk, while also offering working capital credit. Ula reported it had enjoyed tenfold growth since January with customers returning to buy up to three times their initial volumes, despite the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) implemented since March to curb the spread of COVID-19.The company cited that in emerging economies like Indonesia, traditional retail contributed to nearly 80 percent of the retail market, employing millions of Indonesians.Last year, more than 2.8 million sellers traded at over 15,600 markets across the country, according to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS).Sequoia Capital Singapore managing director Abheek Anand said that most retailers in emerging markets like Indonesia were dealing with inefficiencies in the supply chain, inventory and working capital management.“With more and more Indonesian SMEs becoming open to adopting technology, platforms like Ula are an easy, affordable and scalable solution to help these retailers streamline their businesses,” he said.Topics :last_img read more

Wenger aims to show title class

first_img “We will absolutely go for this game,” Wenger said. “We haven’t won the title for a few years and people question that now. “At the end of the day, the Premier League will reflect the quality of the performances of the team throughout the season and how well you do in the big games. This is a good opportunity for us to show we are ready.” Wenger is uncertain if the League Cup clash will have an impact on the Premier League and is unconcerned by the opinion of those who believe his side will be overhauled at the top of the standings. “I’m not sure it will affect the Premier League at all, but you know people will look at you, how you behave and whether you can win the big games like that,” Wenger said. “What is for sure is that you want to win these sort of games. “That has a certain psychological influence on the team. “What we want to do is to show that we want to be considered as a very strong team and that comes only with the way we play and with the results, so let’s just focus on that.” The match pits Wenger against old adversary Mourinho for the first time since the Portuguese returned to English football. Wenger endured a difficult relationship with Mourinho during his first spell and the pair last crossed swords in the League Cup in the 2007 final, when the Blues beat a youthful Arsenal. Wenger plans to utilise his squad players in the match. “The team will be a mixture, with some players who are at the moment not getting the games they need and deserve, and also one or two young players,” Wenger said. “I have to get that mixture right.” Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner could make his first Arsenal start since March 2011, but Mathieu Flamini (groin) and Mikel Arteta (suspended) are absent. The Gunners are searching for a first trophy since 2005 and enter the derby at the top of the Premier League standings with a two-point lead over Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. Some have attributed the Gunners’ lead to a favourable fixture list, with the opening day loss to Aston Villa followed by seven wins in an eight-match unbeaten run in the Premier League. Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal will bid to show their Barclays Premier League title ambitions are serious in Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup showdown with Chelsea. Press Associationlast_img read more

Yahoo DFS Picks Week 15: Daily fantasy football lineup advice for GPP tournaments

first_imgYahoo’s Week 15 NFL DFS pricing allows plenty of opportunities to take advantage of apparent value plays to stuff a GPP lineup with studs that you might normally picture as cash game plays. I’m feeling really good about getting Carson Wentz, Dalvin Cook, Courtland Sutton, D.J. Moore and Tyreek Hill all into the same lineup.I wasn’t expecting my Week 14 lineup to crash and burn due to DeVante Parker and Leonard Fournette, but they want a long way to making it a bust. Parker’s concussion obviously didn’t help matters, while Jacksonville was just really bad. At least there’s always next week. MORE WEEK 15 DFS: Values | Stacks | Lineup BuilderFLEX Tyreek Hill, Chiefs vs. Broncos ($30). The Broncos don’t present a super favorable matchup, but hopefully that moves people off Hill and we get his game-breaking speed in our lineup at relatively low ownership.D/ST Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Lions ($15). We’re definitely not worried at all about David Blough or an already depleted backfield that could have Bo Scarbrough (ribs) hurting, too. The Bucs should get sacks and limit points in this one, and any takeaways would be gravy. WEEK 15 NON-PPR RANKINGS: Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | KickerNFL DFS Week 15: Yahoo GPP Lineup PicksQB Carson Wentz, Eagles @ Redskins ($28). Overall, Wentz has been a bit of a disappointment in 2019. But there’s no reason a matchup with the reeling Redskins will slow him down. This is a game where he can throw for at least 250 yards with a couple scores and run for 30 more — and that’s just his floor. UPDATED: QB Russell Wilson, Seahawks @ Panthers ($30). Swapping out Wentz to create a different stack this week — we’ll take a slightly lowered Wilson price and anticipate a bounceback game for him here.WEEK 15 DFS LINEUPS:FD Cash | FD GPP | DK Cash | DK GPP | Y! Cash RB Patrick Laird, Dolphins @ Giants ($12). Laird saw 15 carries to go with catching four-of-five targets in Week 14. That’s 20 attempts to get him the ball at a $12 price tag. I’d take that against any defense, but especially against the Giants.WEEK 15 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight endRB Dalvin Cook, Vikings @ Chargers ($36). This week’s pricing allowed for almost any high-priced option here and at the FLEX spot, and after a couple of off weeks, Cook was back to 18 carries in Week 14. He’s one of the best floor-ceiling combos each week due to his high touch totals to go with his game-breaking ability.WR Alshon Jeffery, Eagles @ Redskins ($20). Jeffery is the only WR Wentz has that’s worth trusting as a stack option, and his price tag is totally fair. Washington doesn’t have any shutdown corners to worry about, either.UPDATED: WR DK Metcalf, Seahawks @ Panthers ($17). Can’t afford Tyler Lockett for the stack here, so we’ll take Metcalf and hope Wilson can connect with him deep.WR Courtland Sutton, Broncos @ Chiefs ($21). Drew Lock has been a revelation and opened this offense up enough to make Sutton a super appealing play against a mediocre defense that Denver might be forced to throw a ton on to keep up.MORE WEEK 15:Waiver pickups | FAAB planner | Stock watch | Snap counts | Fantasy playoff tipsWR D.J. Moore, Panthers vs. Seahawks ($27). The last time Moore saw fewer than six targets in a game was Sept. 29. Seattle showed it can be beat through the air by the Rams in Week 14 (we knew that already anyway), and Kyle Allen isn’t bad enough to ruin Moore.TE O.J. Howard, Buccaneers @ Lions ($11). Howard caught four balls in Week 14, and this is mostly a bet that the absence of Mike Evans due to a hamstring injury makes Howard a much more important piece of this offense against a bad Lions team.last_img read more
