NAFCU: Election night good for CU friends

first_img ShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr Providing credit unions with an update from Tuesday’s midterm elections, NAFCU Director of Political Affairs Chad Adams said it was a good night overall for friends of the industry. As returning and newly elected lawmakers soon begin a new Congress, NAFCU will continue its award-winning advocacy to further the needs of credit unions. The NAFCU/PAC participated in more than 100 campaigns of candidates and members of Congress who support credit union issues. Of those NAFCU-supported candidates, about 88 percent of them won their elections. “This figure is a testament to the accuracy of NAFCU’s government affairs team, who has time and time again shown the ability to accurately identify and engage with the right candidates for credit unions,” Adams wrote.Recapping the election results, Adams noted that the Senate will remain in Republican hands while the Democrats won control of the House. Despite a “split” Congress, he wrote, “NAFCU’s lobbying team remains well positioned, as we were in 2018, for continued success on Capitol Hill and looks forward to welcoming, and working with, the many new members next Congress.” continue reading »last_img read more

Digital transformation or digital optimisation: A journey versus a starting point

first_img 2SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr continue reading » There’s a lot of noise in high places. Senior executives are asking questions. They’re demanding answers. What are they talking about?Digital transformation. It’s important, because Europe is currently operating at only 12 percent of its digital potential, while the U.S. is operating at 18 percent, according to the McKinsey Global Institute’s Industry Digitization Index.Confusion reigns. The reason there is so much perplexity is that, quite simply, somewhere along the way, digital transformation has mutated into a multi-headed monster that now encompasses many disciplines: Consulting, virtualisation, Agile, process automation, etc. With this mutation, the clarity of the real meaning of the concept of digital transformation has been lost. I believe businesses and senior executives are confusing, quite reasonably, the difference between digital transformation and digital optimisation.Let’s explore further.last_img read more

AVB delighted with ‘world class’ Bale

first_img Press Association Bale firstly set up Jan Vertonghen for Spurs’ opener with a lovely lofted pass in the seventh minute, before lashing home his 27th goal of the season for club and country after 21 minutes. Michu pulled one back for Swansea, but Bale’s brilliant block on Nathan Dyer in the final minutes ensured their fightback fell short and Tottenham climbed to third in the Barclays Premier League table. Villas-Boas said: “When there are so many things that go well for the team it is hard to single out individuals but Gareth is a world class player offensively and defensively, as he showed when he made the block at the end to prevent Swansea getting a draw.” He added: “But the whole team deserve credit because coming here after two league defeats and playing the way we did is never easy. “We spoke at half-time about trying to get the third goal to put it beyond doubt but we couldn’t and they did well to come back. “We showed great determination and the winning mentality that surrounds us to come away and hold on for a great win from home and put ourselves back on track.” Swansea manager Michael Laudrup, one of Europe’s finest midfielders during his own playing career, also praised Bale’s exceptional qualities as the Welsh club suffered a third-straight defeat since reaching the 40-point mark. “They had a very good start but both goals showed a player of Gareth Bale’s quality can make the difference,” he said. “With the first we could have done better even if it was a good pass and finish. But the second goal was just a fantastic finish by a very good player.” He added: “There are different levels of players, even at this level. There are good players, very good players and exceptional players and they are the ones who sometimes out of nothing can make a difference. “If you see his goal today, or his goal against West Ham, it was not even a chance. He is a player who makes the difference and you are lucky if you have that. Not many teams do. If you take Bale out, without him the teams were at the same level.” center_img Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas hailed the “world class” performance of Gareth Bale after the Welshman stole the headlines once again in their 2-1 win at Swansea.last_img read more
