Man With Autism Drowns in Manhasset

first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York A 21-year-old man with autism drowned in a pool after he climbed the fence bordering the Nassau County Children’s Services Housing facility in Manhasset on Tuesday.Nassau County police said the man was on the playground area with his roommates when he climbed over a PVC fence and entered the private property of a Plandome Road home adjacent to the facility’s playground shortly after 4 p.m.The man then jumped into a pool and was found minutes later at the bottom by the facility staff, police said. After staffers jumped into the pool, brought the victim to the surface and began CPR, 911 was called, police said.The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released. Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.last_img read more
